There is an ah/awe problem here. It used to be that “auto” was pronounced AWE-toe or AWE-doe. But it’s been changing in western US to AH-toe (AH-doe). (The “t” is often pronounced “d” all through the US for many words). I can hear all these pronunciations in this clip. Basically, the sound “awe” is disappearing gradually being replaced by “ah”. To me this is not good, almost like a speech impediment. The letter string “au” is meant to indicate “awe” very often, giving some consistency.

The american girl changes her pronounciation while saying the word withouth pauseses. While she is pausing, she says th -sound in the word automotive, but when she says it without pauses the th -sound turns into a d -sound. In the other half the british girl says it right on both of the occasions.
