@Parrotluver2
That’s what I’m planning to do. I’m going to get a really good steamer then return it after I’m done..lol.
#7 by alkenssj7 on December 23, 2011 - 3:47 pm
already had the steamer so figured id give this method a try. Worked pretty well, there was still some resin left on the window but most of it came off pretty easily. Just a little tip tho if you are having a problem with a section, like i did, of resin that really seems stuck on there use lighter fluid(like for a zippo) to break down the glue and it comes off much cleaner

I guess i didnt steam long enough, or maybe you have to do both sides, but the glue is still there… :/ Now it seems that im going to have to use ammonia…
#10 by kitohol on December 23, 2011 - 5:43 pm

If anyone has some adhesive left over after removing the film, a terry cloth rag and some mineral spirits will take it right off. And the key to this method is patience. Let the steam really heat the film and the window, pull slowly on the film, and you’ll feel the adhesive give way. Pull too fast and you’ll end up with more adhesive on the glass.

We just removed the tint from our truck front windows. It was so easy. Thank you

Was nearly impossible for me using this method, ended up using a razor blade and painfully scraping every little square inch because whenever I got a peel going, it would mess up and stay stuck to the window. I think it might have something to do with the tint being 10 years old in hot florida sun, it was like superglued to the window.
