The MPC is a quantum leap in car manufacturing facilities and, as you can see in this video, is a truly special place, as innovative and exciting as the MP4-12C that is built there.

@albokid52 “tonne” is part of the metric units, being 1’000 kilogramms. A “ton” is the empirical equivalent and equals 2’240 pounds, rendering it almost the same.

@japster1358 Robots don’t paint it better, they paint it cheaper.

@alexlam24 Looks to me like the janitor may have the hardest job of anyone keeping that place spotless. White floors in a auto factory? Hope they don’t dock your pay for spilling coffee.

@AlkyCeej yeah its off topic but it was just so weird i had to post it.. its supposed to be a high tech facility.. i guess they just wanted to put the human touch in all aspects.. its just that paint is something that can go wrong easily.. well they’re the experts..

@drplbiftin Ask your boss for a raise. I’m sertain than when you explain that you need more money so you can buy a Mclaren car one day he will understand. Or maybe not. lol.
#8 by SIPEROTH on November 24, 2011 - 10:36 pm
@krmnarrow I doubt Bruce Mclaren had such a big vision. Maybe, but i think if he could see how strong Mclaren are today after so many years, managing to become a car manufacturer with such facilities and all that from an F1 team when so many other teams failed to even keep racing i think he would be in awe.
I have to take my hat to Dennis. Bruce gave the name but Ron was the one who really made things happen.

@japster1358 missing the point a bit there
#10 by japster1358 on November 24, 2011 - 10:50 pm
they do the paint by hand? can’t they at least let the robots do that for consistency?

It’s absolutely amazing to see that a dream by one single person would turn into this. I just hope Bruce McLaren is watching from heaven. God bless Ron, and everyone who has made this possible. You’re all amazing.

Years of confusion have just parted in front of me like the Red Sea. I doubled my knowledge of electricity in one sitting!
Thanks for clearing things up, Eric.
#27 by MrPiwo on November 25, 2011 - 6:46 am
Solenoid also throws out gear which couples engine and starter together. So it does mechanical and electrical work meaning it can cause both problems. Flywheel gear ring can add to possible cause if its teeth are broken.
#28 by MrPiwo on November 25, 2011 - 7:34 am
Most important, before you work on battery and have to disconnect it, you should prepare code for radio!
#29 by MrPiwo on November 25, 2011 - 7:44 am
follow those fat copper cables from battery, and check them thoroughthly, unscrew and clean connectors. one connector should be loose or broken.

@EricTheCarGuy Battery installed by Autozone for free. Unfortunately (fortunately for me)I was able to turn the battery positive connection several times before it was truly tight. Once done the problem has stopped. Thanks for the GOOD advice.!

@malewizard “Pulled negative cable from battery while running, car continued to run with no drop.”
Never pull the battery cable when the engine is running. You can badly damage your alternator and possibly the ECU. The battery acts as an electrical filter on the system. Without the filtering of the battery, you subject everything in the electrical system to sharp damaging voltage spikes.

@ericthecarguy shouldnt he check the grounds cables.

@malewizard I would be checking the electrical connections especially at the battery to make sure they are clean and tight.
